How to find titles with premium reviews
Many titles have premium reviews, which are reviews and age/grade labels from third-party sources like Kirkus, Booklist, School Library Journal, and more.
To find titles that were reviewed by a certain source, or that have a certain number of reviews:
- Sign into OverDrive Marketplace.
- Choose a lending model in the Shop drop-down.
- Click Advanced search at the top of the page. (If you're in the Subscriptions section, select a publisher first.)
- Fill in any or all of the following fields:
- Reviewed by: Select one or more review sources. If you select multiple review sources, your results will include titles reviewed by at least one of those sources.
- Number of reviews: Set a minimum and/or maximum number of reviews a title must have to show in results.
- Age/Grade: Select one or more ages/grades. If you select multiple ages/grades, your results will include titles categorized as any of those ages/grades by at least one review source.
- Age/grade determined by: Select a review source to limit results to titles labeled by that reviewer as the age/grade you selected above.
- Enter any other search criteria you'd like, then click Search.
In your search results, you can see the age/grade labels for a title in the metadata box. To read reviews, click the "Reviews" dropdown below the cover image and select [Number] Premium.
Tips for using premium review search filters
The "Reviewed by," "Number of reviews," and "Age/Grade" fields can be combined to give you very specific search results. If you set more than one of these filters, your results will include titles that meet all of them.
The "Age/grade determined by" option refines your "Age/Grade" selection, so results will include only titles that were labeled as that age/grade by the reviewer you choose. If you set both "Age/Grade" and "Age/grade determined by," then set other premium review filters, you'll see titles labeled as that age/grade by that reviewer that also meet the other criteria.
Example scenarios
- To see titles reviewed by Booklist that were also labeled Age 6/Grade 1 (regardless of which reviewer gave it that label), apply the following filters:
- Reviewed by: Booklist
- Age/Grade: Age 6/Grade 1
- To see titles labeled as age 9 by Publisher's Weekly, and also reviewed by Kirkus, apply the following filters:
- Reviewed by: Kirkus
- Age/Grade: Age 9/Grade 4
- Age/grade determined by: Publisher's Weekly
- To see titles with at least 3 reviews, one of which needs to be School Library Journal, apply the following filters:
- Reviewed by: School Library Journal
- Number of reviews: Minimum 3
Note: You don't need to set a maximum number.
- To see titles that have been labeled as grade 7 by either Booklist or School Library Journal, apply the following filters:
- Age/Grade: Age 12/Grade 7
- Age/grade determined by: Booklist and School Library Journal
- Age/Grade: Age 12/Grade 7
