Cultural Cues for Expatriates in the Levant, Including Issues of Honor and Shame

ebook
Ecclesiastes 10:10 says, “If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success.” The goal of this dissertation is to help the western missionary “sharpen their axe” so that they can make their time in Jordan the most effective that they can for the kingdom of God. The goal of this research project is to offer suggestions that can help western missionaries increase the effectiveness of their evangelistic outreach by suggesting how they can alter their style so that honor and shame considerations are taken into account. Both of these values, namely honor and shame, are paramount in the minds of Arabs, and essential for the western missionary to understand.
